His work was first noted for his violent and furious assemblages, made using firearms. These assemblages were transformed into naive, fanciful, colorful and large sculptures, representing animals, monsters and female figures.
Her idiosyncratic style has been described as "outsider art" and one of the few female artists to have been recognized during her lifetime in an art dominated by men.
