Arts and culture are the soul of a city, setting its tone and pace. As a photographer, I often wondered how to capture it. Walking through the streets of my hometown Vienna, I noticed that street posters carry the headlines of the cultural life of the city - they advertise exhibition openings, festivals and song releases on boulevards lively and quiet side streets. In the frantic race to bring the cultural life of the city to life, the posters are superimposed in a few days and create thick coatings on the walls of the city. My art is a kind of archaeological study, examining the layers of culture I found while walking around different cities. Over time, the posters come to life - some blend into the cityscape, others merge with previous layers and transform into beautiful puzzles of color and shape. By sharing my series with you, I hope to convey the sense of cultural continuity and belonging that I found on the streets of Vienna, Milan, and New York.
