« I like to offer different perspectives on the beauty standards of our time and critically question the place of women in our society. »
The older you get, the more you notice it. The younger you realize this, the better. When can I finally be human as a woman? I have pursued this question in a variety of artistic ways for some years. And at the same time, it becomes more and more difficult for me to live peacefully in a world like this. My images meet the viewer on a level that is obvious and understandable at first sight. At second glance, at best, an eye-opening and reflective perspective on the subject is revealed. Ideally, they operate at two levels - at the reflective social level and at the level where a habituation effect occurs. The viewer must get used to the sight of blood-soaked underpants and find an aesthetic approach to it. "I want to live in a world where I can look at my hairy legs and not have to wonder why I find it weird."
About embroidery in my work: Embroidering gives me peace. The embroidered parts of my pictures address the feminine connotation attributed to embroidery. Women should be able to embroider, sew, mend and fuck. And crochet. But piercing the painted canvas always reminds me of the violence that is inflicted on women all over the world. From domestic violence, to cutting and wearing down the psyche - cheers to gaslighting. Each embroidered body hair is intended to bring me a little closer to the indifference of society's judgment of my body.
