Thomas Kröswang

The activity of painting and drawing lifts me above time, it frees me from the arbitrariness of life and everyday life. In an artistic act which does not need any justification outside of itself, I conceive a new world. At first involuntary, caught in the here and now, my pen, my brush or my pen glide over the paper, guided neither by an ostensible symbolism nor by the need for content. In the attempt not to reproduce an image, but to capture what lies behind, the transcendent, I experience a meditation on space and time, I can risk stares below the surface at levels hidden.
