« I'm fascinated with everything that can be found below the surface »
From landscape painting to exploring that which lies beneath the surface. To capturing the essenze of the earth, rock ,water and woodlands which gave rise to the before and after-life dwellings and artifacts of the ancient civilizations which inhabited this land before us. Having spent half my life living in and on Etruria,I have coveted many Etruscan artifacts from tombs and in museums, and am able to make them my own by painting or drawing these objects. Pen and ink has been a familiar medium to me since childhood. And along with the serendipity of mono printing, has become a favourite way to express the character of these otherwise innate artifacts.A lifelong love of insects who inhabit the world beneath our feet ties in with the hands on approach of these sometimes joyfully messy materials I use.
My lifetime passion for ink expresses itself through various techniques: mono print, drawings, washes and combinations of these. This medium is one of my favorites as it lends itself to my love of insects and my obsession for ancient ceramic artifacts. After over fifty years as an artist a paintbrush or a pen aren't enough to contain my creativity any longer. I like to take this medium to it's full potential with natural tools such as twigs or my very own fingernails by scratching and playing in different ways.

I'm obsessed with archeological artifacts and especially pots. Most of these are Etruscan but some are from other parts of the Mediterranean or even South America
