« Water for every human being. Color for me as an artist. Watercolor I cannot live without. »
Karin stepped more seriously into the watercolor world in her twenties. At that time, she experience the world of watercolor through the amount of water used and the variety of the pigments, and how they act in water – and she still do. In her daily life she is a researcher with control requirements, but watercolor can never be fully controlled. However, she has found a personal balance between control and let go in her paintings. She has been trained by some of Sweden’s and Denmark’s most famous watercolor artists, she is a member of the Nordic Watercolor Society and the local West Scania Artist Society executing exhibitions, also abroad. Through the years she has always come back to painting flowers, also included in the latest still life paintings. Living in an old university town, she is inspired by the young students at coffee shops and restaurants, as well as the people she meets in their daily life at her many journeys, both as an artist and as researcher.
When traveling I often try to paint people in different places in their daily activities, both at work and for pleasure.

When painting still life, I always start with the flowers. At the beginning I also have an idea of how the picture could be built up. However, along the way the water and the pigments’ own creation may change my mind, and something different comes out. Let your mind dive into the still life and you may find a feeling that brings out a since long forgotten memory.
