« And within this margin of human error lies the surprising magic of chance. »
Grégory Gaydu, artist photographer. His work focuses mainly on the complexity of human emotions, he transposes controversial feelings into images. One of his series, Noir Foncé 1, illustrates the contained emotions of the characters. It creates a rough texture of deep black color, of which only he has the secret. which he delicately applies to the faces of his models. Thus, through these stone masks, these clay cases, we can discern the pulsing heart, the vacillating soul.
The material cracks under the battering of too strong emotions. Lurking behind the false mask of apparent serenity, they confront each other like contrary winds: howling from the silence they impose on themselves, mute from a suffering, from an overly glaring feeling. "Dark black", abyssal color absorbing the confused emotions of human beings. Carrying a contemplative power that makes it possible to immobilize time, in search of the unknown, the secret. The spectator's eye must get used to the darkness: it can then become more incisive, to detect in its stone masks, its clay caskets, the beating heart, the wavering soul. Quite simply the human being who hides, buries himself, without being silent, to, finally, rebound from the frame as in himself, in his rawest truth. Grégory is passionate about the mechanism of human emotions, the ambivalence of wishes, the impulsiveness of actions.

The material bursts under the battering of too strong emotions. They confront each other like contrary winds: howling from the silence they had imposed on themselves, mute from a suffering, from an overly glaring feeling. Grégory Gaydu awakens contained emotions: he sets the scene, chooses the musical atmosphere, provokes the scene. And, in his viewfinder, awaits the ultimate moment. Electric magic, mystery of the moment when the impalpable finds its way to the retina. The spectator's pupil dilates with the liveliness of the colors: it can then become more incisive, to detect beneath the abundance of volatile energy, the beating heart, the wavering soul.
