I paint in watercolor on paper. I like to work creating small series of paintings with which to tell my observation exercises of the world and of my daily life. To begin working on a new series, I produce various visual material: photographs, sketches, drafts, color palettes and color tests, all essential materials for developing my project and letting ideas breathe. And when the time finally comes to paint, gestures and the pleasure of color guide me. I love the immediacy of the watercolor technique that allows me to play with the randomness of the medium-water, and the versatility: in addition to the brush, I work on paper with brushes, awls, thread, string, films, cardboard, colored papers and more. Exploring the infinite texture possibilities of the watercolor painted surface is a game that engages me as much as it fascinates me. This until today, and tomorrow?

Prati di città

“Prati di città” is a series of works on watercolor paper and pen, two mediums combined to create compositions with layered and dense textures, for a complex yet fun visual experience. City lawns have often not been designed and the nature that populates them grows spontaneously, disorderly and sometimes disharmonious, but also full of shapes, colors and movement. Making these watercolors on paper requires many hours of work because, starting from an initial chromatic composition scheme, shapes and colors are gradually added with continuous inventions and perception checks: the pen drawing is done directly on the color without any basic sketch to act as a guide. The life and aesthetics of ”Prati di città” can be better understood with an attentive and curious gaze, which wants to linger on the detail as well as the whole and why not, even occasionally getting lost.

Small Weaving Pattern

If you look at your feet as you walk in a meadow, you might not notice a universe of plant weaves that, around your step, create textures with no beginning and no end, in which it's pleasant to get lost in order to forget everything else. Some of these textures I make in watercolor and Indian ink on light cotton paper postcards. Good walk!

AMAtisse

I remember that he gave me permission - Henri Matisse rarely let anyone into his studio - he told me that I could stay behind him and above all in silence, but that I could not take notes or make sketches. I watched him work for hours without ever being able to see his canvases entirely but only in pieces, catching some details here and there. Only many years later was I able to put on paper shapes and colors that I had tried for so long to fix in my memory so they wouldn't fade away. They are small still lifes, done just as I remembered seeing them in some corner of the Master's canvas. With affection I dedicate them to him, AMatisse.

Nei giardini di Klee

Without a doubt, Paul Klee is among the masters of Modern Art that I love the most. Whenever I can I immerse myself in his works to come out full of shapes and colors to rethink mixing them with images, memories and sensations related to the places I frequent and through, sometimes even in my night dreams.

In 2

It takes very little to reflect on the nature of relationships: a shopping bag made at the fruit and vegetable market, sheets of 600 g cotton paper, the desire to work on a square format, more desire to paint than to cook.
