Elemental Geometry

This series of paintings based on basic geometrical shapes is an attempt to make simple yet powerful images infused with presence. Now and again I make use of symbols or shapes that resemble symbols. They sometimes refer to specific concepts and meanings, but you don’t necessarily have to know the meaning of the symbol to grasp the message. I feel the meaning is often inherent in the shapes themselves and that you can sense their essence intuitively. The power of geometric shapes and symbols is that they tap into a non-verbal understanding, a higher vision of reality beyond the five senses. A vision that transcends the conceptual mind and where the interconnectedness of creation is immediately evident. As a painter I try to point to this reality with my works.
