« My artistic research is always in continuous evolution, aimed at the desire to tell something that does not only concern myself. »
My artistic project began twenty years ago, when I decided to leave my studies in philosophy to devote myself to art. Since then I have tried to experiment with various techniques to arrive at expressing a personal view on being. I started portraying faces that were not well defined, not specific portraits. Some works were inspired, for example, by unidentified victims of forensic medicine centres. Instead, inspiration often comes from classical mythology and Hellenistic sculptures. I am planning a series of works on myths disrupted in modern society where the values and models of the past are gradually shattering.
I experiment with various materials, even recycled fabrics, but above all papers of all kinds, found, thrown away, subjected to various treatments, where the design is never completely completed but deliberately interrupted or abraded. It is impossible to determine a priori what will emerge from the initial surface as most of my work is frottage. The subjects are undefined identities, they don't intend to portray anyone specifically, in fact I often paint what I know by heart. My works tell, between personal memories, literary or historical and mythological references, those philosophical themes of existence, life and death, which I feel are part of my culture and which have fascinated me since high school. What interests me is to grasp the restlessness, the inner wounds. Very often the stories told concern intimate and autobiographical experiences.
