At the beginning of the painting process, I usually have a vague idea, but I don't know where the first marks on the canvas will take me. For me, abstract painting is an exercise in letting go. It invites me to embrace the unknown with ease, to experiment with colors and shapes and to relinquish control. My process is intuitive and dynamic and involves applying and subtracting layers to create depth and texture. I prefer to work with acrylic paints on canvas, but I also use mixed media. I like when images tell a story and stimulate the imagination. The beauty of abstraction is that it eludes clarity and thus transforms the viewer into a co-creator. Empty walls attract me like magic. Painting allows me to combine my passion for creative self-expression with my secret love for interior design.
